Hi everyone!
Some of you may know me as the List Administrator for the INSTJOSE Mailing List for St.
Joseph Co., IN, so I hope you won't mind me making the following announcement which is
also appearing on my own list.
Many of the people that settled in St. Joe, Adams, Allen, LaGrange, Elkhart, Wells, Jay,
Blackford, Huntington, and Miami Counties were from the Pennsylvania Dutch region that
included Berks, Schuylkill and surrounding counties. In some cases, whole communities
uprooted and replanted themselves into the middle of Indiana farmland.
I'm pleased to announce a new website for you to use as a reference tool to better
understand your PA Dutch heritage. You can visit the website at
http://freepages.nostalgia.rootsweb.com/~padutchlife/
Here you'll find interesting items relating to our culture and life. You'll also
find helpful information on the PA Dutch dialect, language, religion, and social
gatherings. The PA Dutch were more than just the Amish.
This is a work in progress so bookmark this site and visit often!
Thank you for your time. :-)
