Subject: [INALLEN-L] WICHMANN in Fort Wayne
Hi,
I'm looking for evidence of my WICHMANN ancestors in Fort
Wayne and the surrounding area, from about 1853-1880 or so.
I believe Johann Christian WICHMANN (b. 1796) may have died
there in the 1850's, and his widow Anna Dorothea WICHMANN (b
1800) may have died there after 1870, or in the Kendallville
area of Logan County.
Their son Herman, who had been a Lutheran pastor in Canada,
became very ill and, according to his obit in Der Lutheraner,
died in Fort Wayne on Christmas day, 1863 at age 23.
Can anyone suggest a church and/or cemetery that would be
likely choices to check for records of this family?
Another son Albert lived for at least a while in
Kendallville, and seems to have had a brewery there,
according to the census. He also lived in Fort Wayne before
and after the time in Kendallville.
Thanks so much!
