Is anyone researching the Pepe family which migrated from Geney to Allen
County in the 1830-1840s? My G.-G.-Grandmother, Mary Josephine Gamet
married Charles Joly in Allen County in 1852. In the 1880 F.C., she was
living there with her husband and children, and a "mother-in-law" Jeanne
Pepe, age 90. I believe that Jeanne was her grandmother, but I do not
have any
other info on her. I have found a number of Gamets and Pepes in a FHC film
covering civil records of Geney up through the 1840s, but have not been able
to make any connections. In many places in France church records start
in 1792
and cover most of the 1800s. The church record in Geney starts in the
1600s, and ends
in 1792. It does not include the 1820-30s when her parents would have been
married and her birth around 1834. I will be interested in hearing from
anyone who
may know where info may be found for this area and time. Best regards,
Pat Comiskey

Your names appear at St. Louis Bescancon Catholic
Church near New Haven.
In the old cemetery there:
Ludouicam Margarittan Joly is buried there.
She was buried on 7 Dec 1881 and was 16 years
old. Her parents were Charoil and Josephine
(Gamet) Joly.
There is no tombstone for her - this is from
old cemetery records. The church records are
sometimes written in Latin and sometimes in
French. As far as can be told, her parents
were not buried there.
