I would like to request any information on the death of Thomas Jefferson
Wilkerson...I only have the year of his death, 1897. He is buried in the
Kelsey Cemetery in Lafayette Twp.
The genealogists in the Indiana Room at the Huntington Library (who were
incredibly helpful and have some great resources, by the way!) were unable
to find a death certificate for him.
I did find a copy of his will at the Allen County Library, but this gave no
firm indication of the date of his death--only when the will was executed.
The family story has it that he died after being kicked by a horse. I would
really like to find an obituary or at least the date of his death. He had
several siblings, but I don't know how many were living at the time of his
death or if they were still in the Allen County area.
Thanks!

Billy,
There are no death records for the 1870's, 1880's and only a few death
listings for late 1890's. I do lookups for the Catholic Cemetery here in
Fort Wayne, IN and can help you with whether she is buried there and with
who she might be buried.
I can be reached at par4898(a)skyenet.net and I'm listed on our GenWeb
Allen County Web site for lookups.
Let me know if you want me to look into this for you.

I can't seem to find any death records online and live in
Florida. I am
hoping some kind soul will be able to help me find my great great
grandmother.
Family history says my grandparents, Hiram Bane BARTHOLOMEW and his wife,
moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana sometime prior to 1870. She
subsequently
died in Ft. Wayne and the family returned to Pennsylvania under
strong
advisement of the locals. My great grandmother said, "We were run out of
town
on a rail."
It seems my great great grandmother was Catholic and when she was dying he
refused to call a priest. After she died they suggested strongly that he
leave.
Her name was Mary Frances Bartholomew. Her maiden name may have been
Sozont.
She was French. Her last child, William, was born about 1876 and her
husband
remarried in 1878, so she died sometime between 1876 and 1878. She
is
probably buried at a Catholic Cemetery in Ft. Wayne.
I am at a brick wall on her line and would love to find her. Will some
kind
soul please help me locate my grandmother?
Thanks so much,
Billy
