Hi, Holly,
I envy you. I haven't been there in a few months and I miss it.
One thing I try to do is get into the ACPL catalog and search for books on
my surnames/areas or whatever other reference I want to investigate. It is
very easy and then you can print out the pages with the call numbers and
other information for the call slips you will fill out for each book. Many
are in storage or other areas not accessible but you can order them. When
you get there and find a seat close to where you want to be, make note of
the number on the desk. You will use this number on the call slip when you
order books.
The librarians are very helpful as someone else mentioned. I would advise
you to take a quick tour and familiarize yourself with where things are.
There are several copiers, which are self serve, coin or card operated.
You will find that you cannot possibly exhaust the resources available to
you. Try to be as focused as possible and understand that you will need to
return, probably several times unless your search is narrow or you strike it
rich right away. You will leave there loving the place as much as those of
us who come often. It is a wonderful place to dig for "family treasure". I
hope you find a bunch.

Subject: [INALLEN-L] Tips for researching @ Allen County Library
Hello, can someone please offer tips ( or direct me to a web page)
on
planning a trip to the Allen County Library? I'll be coming down from
Michigan and staying overnight.
Thanks,
Holly
