thanks Brian,
Someone sent me this in 1850 census:
1850 census - Allen Co. IN. Washington Twp. #1135
William McCormick, 48, PA
Mary Ann, 39, PA
Adam, 18, OH
William H. 15, OH
Mary Ann, 12, OH
Maria, 8, OH
(it would be interesting to find out if there was any other McCormicks in
that area, it might lead me to his father)
I found a William McCormick & Jacob C Weidman of Stark OH. buying
government land in land in Washington Twp. Allen Co. On April 5 1836 & a
William McCormick sold land Feb 16 1853 IN Washington Twp. to Hill, David &
Hessut B. I am guessing the William's father bought the land & sold it to
his son (William b.1802). He then moved his family to there after 1842.
Now I know William b.1802 probably died between 1850-1860 in Allen County.
If I can just find him now.
Thanks again
Dennis

Dennis,
Actually, there are three McCormick households on page 292 of 1860 Lake
township. Households are as follows:
Line 1 of this page is Dwelling #400, Family#389 has
Adam McCormick, age 27, male, carpenter, born in Ohio
Margaret McCormick, age 23, female, born in Ohio,
Alida J. McCormick, age 2, female, born in Indiana
Line 14 of this page is Dwelling #404, Family #393 has
Mary A. McCormick, age 49, female, born in Pennsylvania
Mary A. McCormick, age 21, female, born in Ohio
Sarah C. McCormick, age 8, born in Indiana
Line 17 of this page is Dwelling #405, Family #394 has
William H. McCormick, age 24, male, Farmer, born in Ohio
Anne McCormick, age 26, female, born in Pennsylvania
Emily McCormick, age 1 female, born in Indiana
My feelings of this family is that Mary, age 49 is probably a widow and that
Adam, William, Mary ,age 21, were her children. Sarah could either be a
child or grandchild of Mary as her age fits both possibilities William is
listed as a farmer but has no real estate value, however Mary has a real
estate value of $2,500, a good piece of land at that time. William probably
farmed his mothers land. I did a search of the 1850 census of both Indiana
and Ohio and couldn't find any McCormick's to verify my family feelings.
