Dennis,
Grantor is the person selling
Grantee is the person buying
It wasn't until 1905 that Allen County used the marriage application. Any
marriage license before 1905 will only have the parties names and the person
who performed the marriage.

Subject: [INALLEN-L] McCormick of Allen Co.
I was looking at the Allen Co. IN. deed index, 1829-1873 Page 332. I
feel
like a dummy I don't know what the difference between grantor & grantee,
but I found this & was hoping someone could help me place this property.
grantor: McCormick, William
grantee: Hill, David and Hessut B.
date: Feb. 16, 1853
book: N
Page 70
Also I found 2 marriages of William H McCormick in Allen Co. but they
didn't give the age at the time of marriage. I was hoping this might be my
William H. second marriage.
William H McCormick & Barbara Heintzelmann m.27 Apr. 1890
Book 18 Org. source page 502
Thanks for any help
Dennis
PS: I flubbed up, my earlier post of William M McCormick, the M wasn't the
middle name. Handwriting was hard to read on the original land purchase.
