> Kurt,
You didn't specifically mention if the information you'd pieced together
comes from the military unit histories or some other more generic source.
Unit histories name names and details of the serviceman's war experience not
found elsewhere.
Newspapers have been a real treat for me lately if the newpapers are
digitalized in the area/time you're searching. My railroad ancestor's
everyday of employment seems to be found in the newspaper from the time he
took days off sick to the times he traveled to the time he took the day off
to goto a funeral. www.newspaperarchive.com has really helped me here.
Good luck!

All,
Would anyone know if there are other sources of information
other than those at the National Personnel Records Center (it is
apparently not there or burned in the 1973 fire). My ancestor, Jacob
John Krouse (born 28 Feb 1898 died 17 May 1972), was in WW1, Battalion
B, 150th Regiment, 42nd Division (Rainbow). He was an artilleryman. I
have pieced together info from the Indiana War History Records at ACPL
and hope to gain a better picture of where he was and what he did.
Family lore has it that he received a Purple Heart for injuries
sustained in a gas attack, but as yet I have not been able to prove it.
Jacob was inducted into the national guard 10 days after the US
declared war on Germany (16 April 1917 at Fort Wayne). He participated
in many battles including: Lorraine, Champagne Maine offensive, Ausne
Marne Offensive, St. Mikiel offensive, Mense Argonne offensive [sic].
He was discharged on 10 May 1919 with a rank of private. Thank you for
your assistance!

Hello the list,
First time from a sunny but windy Spring day on the River Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire UK.
I am trying to find any living relative of EMMA TROUTMAN who as a girl in 1884, lived at 120 East Wayne Street. Fort Wain. IA.
I believe she was born in OH in 1868. Mother MARY and Father JOHN, who came from BADEN and PRUSSIA respectively. Father was a policeman so probably moved around.
!
My reason for this search id that I have a Bible given to EMMA as a girl, and I would like to return it to a member of her family. I will pay the costs of course.
I would be obliged if there is someone out there who can help.
