Hello Meg. I found the reference to this newspaper in a book from Karl Detzer
titled Myself when young. It tells of his life in Fort Wayne so I would
believe the paper was from there. As for dates I really don't know. It is
around the turn of the century so early 1900's is all I could guess. He
mentions Dr. Kent Kane Wheelock and the letters with no specifics except his
pen name "Americus" and that they were "violently libelous." So that is all I
know.
Thank you,
Barbara

Hello I was wondering if anyone has any information on a newspaper Gart
Shober's Labor Times-Herald? An ancestor of mine Dr. Kent Kane Wheelock
had written letters to the newspaper under the name "Americus." I
would like to try and get copies of the letters if possible. The time
period would probably be early 1900's. He was a doctor in Fort Wayne,
Indiana.
Thank you,
Barbara
Hello Brian,
I think that what you have done is most generous to say the least. I am most
interested in the Boschet name that you mentioned My Great Great Grandmother
Mellzenia Krewson was married to a Henry Boschet. This was her second
marriage. She was married to John Martz before that which is where my line
runs. But that is all the information that I have on him at this time. I
know that they lived in Columbia City, Indiana.
Also the Hatfield line runs from Lydia Hatfield who married Boswell Colvin
and I know that she was born in Ohio and died in Tipton, Indiana.
Then the Martz and Colvin line run together.
So I would be interested in what you may have found on Henry Boschet.

We are searching for any information on Philemon Slifer who may have
been in Allen county around 1836. He was born in Ohio, Montgomery
county about 1812. Thanks
If anyone happens to go to the library in Fort Wayne, can they do me a
favor. I didn't have a chance to go there this trip. Would someone please
look up in the History of Allen County, written 1880, in the Adams Township
section, for a Edward Smead. His parents are in the Washington township
section however Edward was living in Adams township. I'm wondering if there
is a bio of him.
Thank You

Hi Folks,
I finally got hold of the trustee of Washington Township concerning
Hatfield Cemetery. He's working on getting a working crew to clean and
looking into getting equipment to upright the fallen headstones. Lots of
spring rain there and a lot of stones are completly cover with overgrowth.
On my cleanup trip last weekend, after cleaning the Smead and Hatfield
sites,(not much to do on them), I decided to tackle the worse ones. If any
of the following are your ancestors, let me know as I took some before and
after pictures. I couldn't clear off as many as I would of liked as I was
there by myself.
Cleared sites:
William Darby 1817 - 1858
Ann Jones (his wife) 1828 - 1904
Michael Hibler 1857 - 1928
Howard M. Hibler 1894 - 1923 Co. E. 113th Eng.(Vet stone)
Edwin A. Hibler 1885 - 1906 (note, This is a beautiful stone, shaped like a
tree trunk, however it has fallen and knocked over another stone that I
wasn't able to read)
Elbert D. Hibler 1898 - 1899
Coolman (Large stone with just the last name, all I was able to see was
just the very top. Upon clearing the brush and vines found 5 stones.
Father - William 1820 - 1862
Mother - Leah 1822 - 1905
Brother - Alfred 1842 - 1872
Johnnie (thats all this stone had)
Veteran stone -- Sgt. Alf'd Coolman Co. C 42nd Ind. Inf.
I took the liberty of placeing flags on the veterans sites. If these are
ancestors of anyone reading this, know that the sun again shines on them.
Some of the names that I was able to get to to read bot not able to clean.

needed.
