We are trying to pin down a death record for George Washington Cline.George
is buried in Sugar Ridge Cemetary, near Monroeville,Ind. We believe he was
born about 1832.The gravestone is a Civil War marker. On the stone the last
name is spelled Kline.Records in Monrodeville Library branch list the name
with both spellings. On October 30,1857 he married Catherine Magner in Van
Wert,Ohio.Catherine is buried in another Cemetary in
Monroeville,Ind.Catherine died in 1916.
George Washington Cline served in Co.C. 2nd Indiana Cavalry.I have
submitted to National Archives for his War Records, but no response yet.We do
not know if he was born in Indiana or Ohio or elsewhere. The death Cert.
should show where.??? We know, from family records & memories that he died
prior to Catherine. The memories of an aunt of my wife, who just turned 93,it
was a long time before Catherine.I think Flossie(the aunt) was about 7 or 8
when Catherine died.Sooo- how long is a long time? we are stuck at both ends
of G.W.'s life without dates;times & exact locations.HELP!!
We appreciate any & all leads. We know that G.W. & Catherine had at least
one child Ida Lucritice Cline. b. 11/02/1865 in Monroeville,Ind. m. Hillery
H. Hoover son of Samuel Hoover & Sarah Castro. Ida died in 1947 in Paulding
County,Ohio. She is buried in same Cemetary but different area as Catherine
Cline.
Ida & Hillery were my wife's great grandparents.

Linda: I appreciate your checking on an obituary for the
McKinzie/McKenzie's. Stephen was a master of a wagon train that came to
Fort Wayne, Indiana area with settlers from Ohio, 1857-1862 era; Was
hoping to find something to confirm that.
Again, thanks

William Crow had a son, Cleo Crow - It is my understanding that Cleo ran for
sheriff of Allen Co. - I do not have a birthdate for Cleo, but probably was
born abt 1890 and he was married to Donna Barrett - That is all the info I
have about him - would appreciate any and all info you might supply
Thank

Lucy,
Are you still seeking the obituary for Stephen Elias McKinzie of Leo? I checked at the Allen Co. Library today and there was NOT an obit. for Stephen d. 21 Oct 1883, Mary d. 20 Aug 1881 wife of S. E. or Sarah H. d. 9 Apr 1886 dau of S & M. Very few obits for people living outside Fort Wayne made the newspapers in the 1880's.
