Our REED family begins with Harvey J. Reed, born in Stark Co. Ohio. He married Martha J. Woods in Allen Co. on July 29, 1886. They had eight children:
James, Sam, Goldie, Clara, Charlottie, Jenny, and Claytom.
Harvey was the son of Henry H. Reed and Martha Fohl. Henry was born in Stark Co., Ohio. He married Martha in 1858 in Stark Co. They moved the family to Wells Co., Indiana in Union Twp. in 1868, and later to Jefferson Twp.. Henry was a civil war vet. He was an architect, carpenter, and builder. He was elected Justice of the Peace of Wells Co., Jefferson Twp in 1880.
Henry and Martha Reed and nine children: Harvey, John, Wesley, Jemima, Franklin, Ella, William, Cora, and Bethilda Reed.
Henry H. Reed was the son of Henry Reed (Jr.) - wife unknown, died 1881. Henry died in Pleasant Twp., Allen Co in 1883. The family also came to Indiana in 1868 from Stark Co., Ohio where he was born. He had seven children: Henry H., Simson, Leah, George, Franklin, Lucy A.., and Adaline.
Henry Reed (Jr.) was the son of Henry Reed (Sr.) and Wilhelmina Click (Glueck). Henry Sr. was born in Pennsylvania, married Wilhelmina in 1836 in Stark Co., Ohio. They both died in Stark Co., Ohio. They are reported to have eleven children, although I do not know their names.
Henry Reed (Sr.) is the son of Jacob Reed. Jacob was born in Pennsylvania, and moved with his family to Stark Co., Ohio, an early pioneer. He also served in the War of 1812 as a private.
There are two Jacob Reed's in early Stark Co. Ohio, one being the son of Jacob Reed, and the other the son of Michael Reed. The Jacob Reed line seems more likely, although unproven.
Any help in expanding this Reed family line will be appreciated!
Thanks! Karl
Our WOODS family begins with MARTHA J. WOODS, born June 17, 1866 in Allen Co. She was the daughter of SAMUEL WOODS and REBECCA SMITH (both born in Indiana).
SAMUEL and REBECCA WOODS were married 23 January 1862 in Allen Co. They were the parents of four (known) children: MARTHA J., JOHN A. (b. 14 Oct. 1870), BENJAMIN, and CHARLOTTIE WOODS.
MARTHA J. WOODS married HARVEY J. REED 1886 in Allen Co.
JOHN A. WOODS married Eva J. Speck
CHARLOTTIE WOODS married name was ROBB.
The 1850 census of Allen County, Pleasant Twp. leads me to believe that SAMUEL WOODS may be the son of GEORGE and CHARLOTTE WOODS.
1850 census info: George was a farmer, age 37, place of birth, Ohio.
wife CHARLOTTE, age 36, born Ohio
All children appear to have been born in Ohio:
SAMUEL 17
(male - not legible)
JOHN 13
ALEXANDER 9
ELISABETH ( L.. ?) 6
MILTON (?) 3
MARY 1
REBECCA SMITH, wife of SAMUEL WOODS, was the daughter of REV. THOMAS SMITH and ESTER HIATT.
THOMAS SMITH was born January 22, 1803 in Virginia. He was known to be a Baptist minister in Rush Co. Indiana. He died November 08, 1858 in Rush Co.
He married ESTER HIATT on February 10, 1822 in Fayette Co., Indiana. Their known children are REBECCA, LARKIN, JOHN MARY, ELIZABETH, SUSANNAH, and JAMES SMITH.
LARKIN SMITH married VIOLET OLDHAM in 1850 in Rush Co.
The 1850 census of Rush Co. Indiana, Washington Twp. has Thomas Smith, Reg. Baptist Preacher, age 47, born Virginia.
ESTER SMITH is NOT listed. All children are listed as born in Indiana:
ELIZABETH 16, James W. 13, Samuel (M. ?) 10, Rebecca 5. LARKIN and VIOLET lived next door.
This is most of the info I have on these families. I am looking of course for their ancestors, and for descendants to add to my database, and any further information on these individuals.
ANY help will be most appreciated!
Thanks for your time!
Karl
Karl & Diane, I would be interested in your Reeds of Pleasant. Pls. e-mail. Phyllis

I am still seeking an obituary for Stephen Elias McKINZIE who is buried
in Leo Catholic Cemetery in Leo, Allen Co., Indiana. Through interlibrary
loan I ordered the microfilm for the newspaper, but for some reason was
unable to get it. Any suggestions appreciated.
Lucy
Thanks for the response.
The info I am searching for is a little further back.
David Noble b 1755 d 1820 married Sarah Taylor. Had son Asiel Noble in 1782
and married Eliza Harberger.
To my knowledge Asiel had just two daughters, Sarah and Mary Ann.

While this doesn't have to do with the county specifically - iVillage is
developing an Heirloom Recipe part of their web site - I thought there were
others who might like to swap and share their family's historic recipe box
too.

Does anyone know anything about:
Abraham DOUGHMAN
His sister, Sarah ANDERSON
brother, David DOUGHMAN?
In 1847 Abraham and Sarah Doughman (she was apparently not yet married), both of Fort Wayne, IN, appointed a lawyer in Juniata Co., PA to represent them concerning their father's will - George DOUGHMAN had died abt Jan 1834, but his will was not to be settled until the last of the children came of age in 1847.
In Nov 1885 a blurb appeared in a Juniata Co. newspaper stating that David Doughman and his sister, Sarah Anderson, of Fort Wayne, IN, were visiting their brother, George in Juniata Co.
So does anyone know anything about any of these people or their descendants? Thanks so much for any help! Ann Brickner
There are some Campbell's in my husband's side of the family. I have a list
