CALVIN J. COPPESS DIES THIS MORNING
Calvin J. Coppess, 59, resident of Coppess Corner and operator of the Coppess Corner
service station, died of a heart attack today about 2 a.m. . He was the son of Frank and
Minnie LeBrun Coppess, being born Aug. 24, 1899, in Washington township. He married Marie
Jones, who survives, on March 21, 1925.
Mr. Coppess, a graduate of Monroe high school, worked at the Decatur G. E. plant before
moving to Coldwater, Mich. in 1930 to become manager of the Kroger store there. He
returned in 1935 to open the Coppess Corner service station. He was a member of the
Decatur Masonic lodge.
Survivors besides his wife are two children, Richard Coppess and Mrs. Richard (Jean)
Colter, both of Coppess Corner; a brother, Albert Coppess of Monroe; a sister, Mrs.
Mildred Foley of Preble; and four grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Zwick funeral home, the Rev.
C. N. Van Gundy officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call
at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of the services.
