Clifford E. Roe, 76, rural Monroe, died suddenly at his Bluecreek Township home
Tuesday.
He was born on October 25, 1916 in Adams County to Fred J. and Daisey Galloway Roe and
married Violet Manley on March 15, 1936; she survives.
He retired in 1976 from International Harvester in Fort Wayne after 40 years in the
forge shop. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and served as one of the
trustees the past 25 years. He was also president of his church's homecoming
celebration and a member of the Blue Creek Coon Hunters' Association.
Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Linda) McMillen, rural Decatur and Mrs.
Richard (Pauline) Minnich, rural Geneva; two sons, Clifford Leon and Lynn Roe, both of
rural Monroe; two brothers, Raymond Roe, rural Monroe, and Ernest Roe, rural Decatur; two
sisters, Helen Davis, Decatur and Lillian Kincaid, rural Decatur; 11 grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son Larry E. Roe; two brothers, Delmas and
Robert Roe; and a sister, Wilma Hough.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home,
Rev. Stephen Bard officiating. Burial will be in Backesto Cemetery, rural Monroe, with
Roger Minnich, Ron Minnich, Randy Minnich, Rex McMillen, Pat Myers, Cary Arner, Chad Arner
and James Arnold as pallbearers.
Visiting hours are 6-9 p.m. today and noon-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Preferred
memorials are to the church.
