HAROLD M. SWYGART
Harold Max Swygart, 66, Willshire, Ohio, died at 8 a.m. today in Lutheran Hospital,
Fort Wayne, following heart by-pass surgery.
He was born on December 11, 1924 in Decatur to Lafayette and Leah A. Dibble Swygart and
married Wilda Mae Wall, who survives.
He retired in 1987 after more than 42 years of employment at Fort Wayne's Magnavox
plant. He was also a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors are five sons, Ronnie Lee Swygart, route 6, Decatur; Rickey Lee
Swygart, Berne; Randy Lee and Reggie Lee Swygart, both of Decatur; and Roderick Lee
Swygart, Ohio City, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Phil (Kuba Jean) Pollard, Berne; a sister,
Elizabeth Morris, Van Wert, Ohio; five brothers, Richard D. Swygart, Richburg, South
Carolina; Jack Swygart, Elkhart; Paul E. Swygart, Wells, Maine; Gerald L. Swygart,
Fort Wayne; and Lafayette Swygart, Jr., Augusta, Georgia; 22 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four sisters, (Norma Jean Uhrick, Betty Baumgartner, and infants, Thelma
and Ruth Swygart) and four brothers (Robert, Lyle and Henry Swygart and Edwin Swygart, who
also died in infancy).
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday in Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home Berne, Rev. Rey
Teofrio officiating. Burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, southeast of Decatur. Visiting hours
are 3-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday. Preferred memorials are to the Adams
County Chapter of the American Heart Association or the Adams County chapter of the
American Diabetes Association.
