ROY E. HELLER
Roy E. Heller, 97, route 2, Decatur, Kirkland township farmer who lived in the same
house for 90 years, and a former state highway department employee, died at 5:10 p.m.
Thursday in the Decatur Community Care Center, where he was a patient four years.
He was a member of the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren.
Born in Root Township on May 22, 1887, he was the son of Rev. Jacob and Mary Angeline
Elzey-Heller, and was married Feb. 3, 1907, to Louisa A. Scherry; she died Feb. 13, 1909.
He later married May Melching Nov. 24, 1910; she died Nov. 23, 1974.
Survivors include a son, Theodore Heller, route 2, Decatur; two grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and six
step-great-grandchildren. One stepson, Alfred Heller, three sisters, and two brothers are
deceased.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zwick, Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home, with
Rev. Norman Replogle officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery. Friends
may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. Memorials are to the Pleasant Dale
Church.
