JOSEPH MALFAIT, SR.
Joseph Malfait, Sr., 59, of Woodburn, died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday in Parkview Hospital
in Fort Wayne. He was a lifelong Allen County resident and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; two daughters, Karen Cress of route 5 and Kathy
Baumle of Payne, Ohio; three sons, Joseph and Mark Malfait, both of Woodburn and Keith
Malfait at home; a brother, Albert Malfait of Woodburn; five sisters, Evonna DeFoor and
Barbara Mason, both of Mason; Ida Dewey of Monroeville; Estella Taylor of Canton, Ohio;
and Margaret Brindle of Coldwater, Michigan; and seven grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the E. Harper and Son Funeral Home at New
Haven and at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic church in Payne, Ohio.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are from 7 to 9 p.m. today and
2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
A vigil service will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the church for Masses, to the Allen County Cancer
Society, or to the Woodburn EMS.
