Lawrence Scrogham "Pete"
LAWRENCE "PETE" SCROGHAM, 82, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at
Lutheran Hospital.
Born on Sept. 10, 1926, in Geneva, the U.S. Navy veteran retired as a Detective Lieutenant
with the Fort Wayne Police Department in 1973, after 22 years of service.
He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, American Legion Post 47, V.F.W. Miami Post
10006, the F.O.P. and the Retired Police Officers Association.
Survivors include his children, Deborah (Craig) Humphries of Churubusco and Michael
(Janet) Scrogham of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Andrew Humphries, Jillian (Adam) Brosoky,
Jena (Eric) Schott, Laura (Brad) Stout and Emily (Nick) Young; great-grandchildren,
Nicholas, Emma and Grace; and sister, Marilyn (Paul) Kahn of Ossian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 2007; sister, Wava Close; and two
nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, with calling
one hour prior at the church. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O.
McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with Vigil service at
2 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials to St. Jude Catholic Church, Masses, League for the Blind, or Allen County Right
to Life.
