Paul W. "Jim" Garner, 82, 37 N. English S., died at 4:47 a.m. today at his home
after an extended illness.
He was born on April 21, 1900, in Adams County to Sylvester and Anna Butler-Garner, and
married the former Velma J. Niblick on October 8, 1918, she survives.
A member of Calvary Community Church, Mr. Garner was a retired employee of Adams County
Memorial Hospital, having worked there 17 years until 1979. Prior to that, he worked for
38 years for the former Kocher Lumber Co. of Decatur.
Other survivors include a son, Ronnie Garner of route 3; four daughters, Mrs. Moran
(Marcia) Stetler, Willshire, O.; Mrs. Harlen (Betty) Sheets, Van Wert, O.; Mrs. Robert
(Wanda Jean) Eyanson, 909 Schirmeyer St.; and Shirley Adams, 161 Ogg St.; four sisters,
Locia Easterwood, 238 N. Seventh St.; Mary Railing, 1139 Lewis Dr.; Mrs. Grover (Laura)
Bleeke, route ; and Mrs. Richard (Agnes) Baker, route 7; 22 grandchildren; and 34
great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Edward and Paul Garner; a daughter, Barbara Jean; three brothers and two sisters
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Winteregg-Linn and Haggard Funeral
Home, with Rev. Brent Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur
Cemetery.
