DORIS M. WERST
Doris M. Werst, 79, Geneva, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday in Chalet Village, Berne, where
she had resided the past year.
A homemaker, she was born in Decatur on October 21, 1909 to David and Manda Brandyberry
Springer and married Chester L. Werst on February 20, 1926; he died on March 17, 1961.
Surviving are two sons, Fredrick J. Werst, DeLand, Florida, and Olen L. Werst, Geneva;
two daughters, Bernice Nelson, Geneva, and Rose Elaine Harter, DeLand, Florida; one
sister, Viola Richards, 854 Dierkes St.; four brothers, Lawrence Springer, route 3,
Decatur; Thurman Springer, Andrews, Indiana; and Melvin and Otis Springer, both of
Huntington; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, one brother,
and one grandchild are deceased.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday in Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, Rev. Ronald
C. Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Ray Cemetery, west of Monroe.
Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday. Preferred
memorials are to the Adams County chapter of the American Heart Association.
