Esta L. Harmon, 79, Decatur, a former resident of rural Ohio City, Ohio, died at 4:15 a.m.
Monday in Woodcrest Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born on July 16, 1915 in Van Wert, Ohio to Curtis S. and Mattie C. Gephart
Tumbleson and married Welmer F. Harmon on September 19, 1937. He died on September 7,
1978.
She was a cook at Smith's Nursing Home and Shane Hill Nursing Home, both in Ohio, for
11 years and a telephone operator for 24 years at Wren, Ohio. She was a member of Wren
United Methodist Church, it's Ladies Guild, and it's music department, and also
was a member of the Wren Historical Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Ellen D. Harmon, Ohio City; a son, Richard J. Harmon, Tampa,
Florida, and four grandchildren. Two brothers, Jesse and Harold Tumbleson, are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home,
Decatur, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City. Visiting hours are 2 to 5 and 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to the Wren Emergency Medical Service or The
Gideons International.
