Mrs. Mary Spade, former resident of Decatur, died at 4:30 o'clock this morning at
the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Johnson, in Gary. Mrs Spade,
who was between 75 and 80 years of age, had been in ill health for several months,
suffering from senility and heart trouble.
Mrs. Spade's first husband was Perry Lewton, former sheriff of Adams county, who
died several years ago. Her second husband, Jacob Spade, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. P. L. Andrews, and Mrs. Dollie Brenneman, of Fort
Wayne, and Mrs. Johnson, of Gary; two sons, Vin Lewton, of Detroit, and Harry, whose
address is unknown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, according to a telegram received
here today by E. W. Johnson, but the hour and place was not given.
The body of Mrs. Spade will arrive in this city over the Pennsylvania railroad
Wednesday afternoon and will be taken to the Methodist church, where it may be viewed
until 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the church
and burial will take place at the Decatur cemetery.
