Jean,
Probably the only courthouse in Adams Co., IN is in Decatur, which is where you have
'looked' for the record. There might have been a record at the funeral home from
which she was buried. I believe there were active funeral homes in the county at that
time. Some of the small towns had funeral homes so that might be an area you could check
out.
I have found an individual with same name, marriages, etc. in the family trees at
ancestry.com plus rootsweb world connect, but most indicate the father was "William
Hardin" and mother Jane Burrell, have you seen those trees?
As I also found, an Elizabeth A. Hardin is found with another family in the 1860 census
and no indication of where the parents were, so I was not much help there. I'll
continue to search to see what, if anything, I can find.
Keep searching and enjoy the frustrations! of which I have many with loose ends and not
finding individuals in census' when they should have been recorded somewhere.

What year was Elizabeth Harden born? Have you checked the 1880 FC? To whom was she
married? I do not have this individual in my database on this computer, but will look in
the census to see if I can find her.

Subject: [INADAMS] Death Record Question - Elizabeth Ann Harden
Hello,
Elizabeth Ann Harden Whitright Johnson died in Union Township, Adams
County on 28 Jun 1903. Her death is recorded in the Adams County Courthouse.
Record of Death # 8156 Decatur, Adams County, Indiana
Recorded in Book H-22, Page 25
Her mother is listed as Elizabeth Ann and her father's first name is left
blank, surname Hardin. The clerk at the Adams County Courthouse has been
amazingly helpful, checking the death record on two occasions and confirming
that indeed the father's name is not given.
My question is, would there be another death record in Union Township?
Hopefully the fathers name might be on another death record. Also, I have
tried to find an address for Union's courthouse but have not been successful.
I am grateful for any suggestions as without her fathers name I have not
been able to identify Elizabeth's parents.
