Joseph Dayton Durbin and Laura Bell Aspy had 5 children:
Harvey Allen Durbin (my great-grandfather) b. 06 Jan 1896 d. Abt 1933
Harold Hugo "Hug" Durbin b. 15 Oct 1898 d. Aug 1982
Herman Henry Durbin Sr. b. 14 Feb 1902 d. 1993
Ethel Durbin b. Abt 1905 d. 7 Apr 1928
Irene Durbin b. 13 Jul 1910 d. 14 Nov 2000
Harvey married Etta M. Morse (b. 16 May 1898 Cando, Towner, ND d. 1 Aug 1983 Portage,
Porter, IN) and they had 4 children:
Lawrence Everett Durbin (my grandfather) b. 8 Sep 1916 d. 20 Nov 1991
Esther M. Durbin b. 13 Aug 1917 d. 25 Apr 2009
Robert Leroy Durbin b. 26 Jul 1919 d. 1977
Edna Mae Durbin b. 1 May 1928 d. Dec 1997
Harvey took his own life when my grandfather was a young boy, and I have very little info
about him. No one spoke of him to me, and I didn't even find out that he committed
suicide until I was an adult.
Irene A. Durbin married Harold J. Hoffman. I know that she was born in North Dakota and
was close to my grandfather when they were young. I'm not sure where she lived or
where she died.
Ethel G. Durbin died young, but I'm not sure where. My mother is unable to remember
if it was in Indiana or in North Dakota. She is buried in Backesto Cemetery in Adams
County, IN.
Herman Henry Durbin Sr. married Dorotha Marguerite Dickerson and they had 8 children. I
believe that their kids were born and raised in Michigan. Their daughter Beverly Ann
Durbin Beals died in Potterville, Michigan in May of 2004.
Harold "Hug" Durbin is the remaining brother, and I have almost no info on him.
He was born and died in Adams County, IN - and that's all I really know.
Doris E. Durbin Sheets is the granddaughter that Laura and Joseph raised, but I don't
know who her parents are.
If you can fill in any blanks, I'd appreciate anything you could share.
Thanks,
Rebecca
