This is a note that Louise Wolpert, the librarian, sent in 2008.
Library web site...library's web page: http:/www.apls.lib.in.us/
Click on Catalogs button.
Click on Decatur Library Logo (left)
On the green bar across the upper part of the page is a catagory -
Community Resources - Click on that. Now you are at the point where you
have access to the Decatur Daily Democrat's index. The complete obituary
file is on there. Whatever is/was written on the obit cards is in this
index.
Some cards have much information; some have very little, but each will
lead you to the newspaper article/obit. Type the person's name (last name
first) on the DEMOCRAT KEYWORD(s) line. In Library school I learned less
is more. If you type just the last name of the family you are looking for
often times you will find more information: ie. Mother's maiden name,
married sister, cousins, in-laws & out-laws.
Have fun searching.

Could you send the URL for the online Decatur Democrat obit abstracts. I got
a "Decatur Democrat nolonger a member of this online service" message when I
simply did a google search.

I checked the Decatur Democrat online obit abstracts and did not find one
listed for David Barnhart.

Daniel D. Barnhart (4 Sep 1809 - 13 Sep 1886) served as Adams County coroner
and as a Washington Township Trustee.
One would think that there might be an obituary in the newspaper files. Has
anyone ever found one?? I know the paper goes back as far as 1891, but am
not certain as to the beginning.
