MILDRED M. VORE
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. this morning at the Williamson and Spencer
Funeral Home, Portland, for Mrs. Mildred M. Vore, 61, of Portland, route 2. The mother of
Joe L. Vore, of Berne, she died Friday afternoon at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne,
following a brief illness.
The Rev. James Wolford and Rev. Carl Greek officiated at the memorial service; burial
following in the IOOF Cemetery, Pennville.
Mrs. Vore, director of the Elderly Nutrition Site in Dunkirk for the past six years,
was born March 27, 1923 in Harrison, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Mattie
Chronister-Stevens. She was married Oct. 10, 1942 to Leroy C. Vore, who survives.
Mrs. Vore was a member of the Sugar Grove Nazarene church and the Jay County Extension
Homemaker's Club. Her daughter, Judy Watkins, was killed April 28, in an auto
accident at Toledo, O.
Also surviving are two additional sons, Jay E. Vore, Syracuse and Jerry D. Vore, New
Haven; a daughter, Mrs. Carmon (Janet) Wenger, Syracuse; a brother, Joe Stevens of Bobo;
two sisters, Veda Renn, Defiance, O., and Thelma Manns, Churubusco; and 10 grandchildren.
