THURMAN R. DOUGLAS
Thurman R. Douglas, 82, rural Berne, died on Friday at home.
He was born on February 16, 1911 in Adams County to Augustus and Nettie Sipe Douglas
and married Sarah E. Bebout on December 24, 1934. She survives.
He retired in 1971 after a career at International Harvester in Fort Wayne and was also
a farmer. He attended Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene.
Other survivors are two sons, Theodore E. and Jerry L. Douglas, both of Decatur; two
daughters, Mrs. Leland (Beverly) Welker, Bern??, Minnesota, and Mrs. Bill (Connie) Sark,
Bluffton; three sisters, Chloe Bollenbacher, Berne; Beulah Brodbeck, Monroe and Martha
Tinkham, Decatur; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two grandsons, three
brothers, and two sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene, Rev.
Mark Dill officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from
2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, and 1-2 p.m. Tuesday
at the church. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
