Reid B. Sprague, 85, of Decatur, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday in the nursing center at
Woodcrest Retirement Community.
He was born on September 3, 1923, in Indianapolis to Reid B. and Sarah J. Hawkins
Sprague.
He married Margaret E. Moats on December 25, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee; she died on
March 17, 2005.
He retired on December 31, 1987, as a production engineer at the former CTS Corp.
plant in Berne after a 23-year career. During World War II, he was a navigator in a B-24
bomber in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe.
Surviving are one son, Reid B. Sprague III of Hollywood, Maryland; two daughters, Mrs.
Ted (Ann E.) Wenning of Decatur and Maggie Sprague of Seattle, Washington; one brother,
John C. Sprague of Stevensville, Michigan; three grandchildren; and one
great-granddaughter.
A son, Paul H. Sprague, and a granddaughter, Sara M. Wenning, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home,
Decatur, with visitation from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery, with military graveside services by the color
guard from American Legion Post 43 of Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to the Paul and Kathryn Strickler Oncology Institute through
the Adams County Community Foundation.
