Herman Kirkendall dies in Florida
Herman A. Kirkendall, 72, of the Sarasota Bay Mobile Home Parke, Osprey, Fla., a former
resident of Monroe, died at 12 noon Sunday at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota,
Fla. He suffered a heart attack and died several hours later.
Mr. Kirkendall, a former General Electric employe, owned and operated Kirk's
Restaurant in Monroe from 1943 to 1965. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Fort
Wayne.
Born in Adams county (near Monroe) on Aug. 18, 1901, he was the son of Hiram Kirkendall
and Eliza M. Johnston Kirkendall Hahnert.
Surviving are four brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Alta) Row of Cape Coral, Fla.,
Donald Hahnert of route 2, Hartford City; Mrs. Lee (Loma) Miller of route 1, Bluffton, and
Howard V. Hahnert of Wabash. Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services are incomplete, but burial will be in the Ray cemetery at Monroe. The
Zwick funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rites are Wednesday for Mr. Kirkendall
Funeral services for Herman A. Kirkendall, 72, a former resident of Monroe, will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Zwick funeral home, with Rev. Donald E. Wilks officiating.
Burial will be in the Ray cemetery at Monroe. Mr. Kirkendall died Sunday in Sarasota,
Fla.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
