BRUCE THATCHER
Bruce A. Thatcher, 24, route 2, Ohio City, an employee of the International Harvester
Co., Fort Wayne, died at 7:20 a.m. today at the University Hospital at the University of
Wisconsin, in Madison, Wisconsin.
The young man was hospitalized three weeks following a heart transplant. He was flown
to Wisconsin several weeks ago on a plane furnished by James Kelley, a car dealer in Fort
Wayne, and also the Allen County Democratic Chairman. Kelley is a native of Adams
County.
Mr. Thatcher, an avid horseman, was active in horse racing circles and also showed
horses.
He was born in Decatur on July 1, 1955, the son of Graydon and Janice
Whitaker-Thatcher.
Survivors include the parents of route 2, Ohio City, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Michael
(Diana) Hoffman, route 2, Decatur; Miss Rhonda Thatcher, route 2, Ohio City, Ohio; one
brother, Terry Thatcher, route 2, Ohio City, Ohio; and the maternal grandmother, Mrs.
Esta Whitaker, route 2, Convoy, Ohio.
The body will be removed to the Zwick Funeral Home, where arrangements will be made
this afternoon. The funeral arrangements will appear in Saturday's edition of the
Democrat.
