FORMER RESIDENT OF DECATUR DIES MONDAY
Mrs. Nancy B. Baker Dies at Fort Wayne
Mrs. Nancy Barbara Baker, 86, a native of Adams County and a resident of Decatur until
the death of her husband, Philip Baker, in 1931, died at the home of a daughter, Ms. Leola
McCague, at 1113 E. Wayne street in Fort Wayne, Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.
Death was caused by pneumonia. She was critically ill only two days although she had
been bedfast for three years. She spent most of her life in the west part of Decatur.
She was born September 24, 1857, in Adams County, the daughter of William F. and Sarah
Ellen Dill Kinsey (sic; Kimsey) Baker.
Surviving besides the daughter in Fort Wayne, are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Elzey, Wren,
Ohio and three sons, Harvey M., Alva D. and Franklin O. Baker, all of Decatur. One
daughter and two sons are deceased. She was the last member of her family, three brothers
and one sister being deceased. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and Methodist
church.
Funeral services will be held at the Black funeral home in this city Thursday afteroon
at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Charles Smith, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Fort
Wayne, officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
The body may be viewed at the Black funeral Home after 7:30 this evening.
