Subject: [INADAMS] Millers
I have found document with for the Miller family buried in Clark's
Chapel Cemetery. There are three known brother Alva, Joseph, and
Harvey S (1940) who are listed as the sons of Michael and Sarah Kasoll
Miller. (There is a fourth James who probably is also a son but I have
not connected him firmly with Michael and Sarah. ) This information is
found in the Lawrence Co Probate Court records of Michael Miller's
estate. In that estate it says the Alva and Joseph were living in
Adams Co Indiana. Harvey S Miller's death certificate says his parent
were Michael Miller and Sarah Kasoll. James and his wife can be traced
back to the area of the Miller farm in 1850, but again it is a
circumstantial connection.
The Miller brother's grandfather was John Miller. Their grandmother was
Margaret, her last name is unknown. This is documented in John Miller's
Beaver Co Pa Will (His farm was in North Beaver Twp which when he died
was in Beaver Co. but became part of Lawrence Co.) In John's will
he says he is leaving half of his farm to his sons Michael Miller who is
currently living on the property and the other half to his son John Miller
who was also the executor of John Miller's estate.
The third document is the deed to for Michael Miller's farm from the
Executors of the John Miller estate. The importance of this deed is
that it says that John Miller purchased property that had been a Granted to
John McGaghey- John Mcgaughey- John McGahey. (McGuffey as in the
Reader??) Records in the Pennsylvania Archives locate this property in
North Beaver Twp. The 200 acres are at the interchange of I-376 and
PA-168. The southern border is on the Halltown road. In fact if you
look at Google Earth you can still see this original grant by the tree lines
that are on the lot lines of the property.
Because Michael Miller was living on his father's farm in 1823 when his
father, John, wrote his will, ALva Miller was probably born (b:1826) on
that farm. It is still unknown where the Mahoning came from on Alva
tombstone. There is a community know as Mahoning about 4 miles up
river from the Miller farm, but it was not a large community and I doubt if
Margaret and Alva would have gone there to have the baby. Especially
since his sister in law John's wife was living on the next farm. Since
the community is on the Beaver River, not the Mahoning, it is possible
that the whole are was know as Mahoning. But the speculation is yet to
be proven.
If you would like I can send you all of these documents. There are two
Probate Records, John Miller and Michael Miller and the Michael Miller
deed. I can also provide the documentation that proves where the
Miller farm was in North Beaver Twp.

Keith,
Yes, Gene has spent a lot of time down here at the Heritage Room.
Cindy Herman, a previous Heritage Room staff member had spent a lot of
time helping Gene with research in the past, and the current staff has
helped him as well. If you've talked to Gene, then you probably do
have what we have, but if we can help you out in your research, just
let us know. If you can make it up here sometime, we'd be happy to show
you
what we have!
Best,

Shana; Are you the one at the library who has worked with my cousin
Gene Hindenlang on collecting data on the Hindenlang Family?
I thought it was the Bern library where he was going but could be wrong.
Gene and I have shared a lot of data on the Hindenlang, Miller,
Seibert Families. In some ways I feel guilty being able to go online
and find things that I could not going to the various county offices.
Since he visits the library frequently, I may already have copies. If
not I will try to talk him to look at them and if he does not have
copies to get copies the next time he visits.
If that does not work, we get to Fort Wayne about once a year to visit
my brothers, so I will try to get down the next time we visit.

PS: I have been all excited because I though that I had found a
picture of Catharine Smith Hindenlang Seibert. Verbally it looked very
promising. Then I started looking at pictures that Mary Lee Hall had
online, and now I am not sure it it is Peter and Catharine Seibert,
or his son Frederick and his wife Fredericka Seibert.
