Mrs. Ross Mallonee Dies Monday Night
Short Illness Fatal To Decatur Resident
Mrs. Myrtle Mallonee, 64, wife of Ross Malonee (sic), and well known Decatur lady, died
last night at 9 o'clock at the Adams county memorial hospital after a short illness.
Death was caused by peritonitis, following an operation. She had been ill one week and
last Thursday was taken to the hospital from her home on North Eleventh street.
Mrs. Mallonee was born in Washington township February 13, 1878, the daughter of James
W. and Mary A Barnhart-Smith. She had lived here her entire life. She was a member of
the First Methodist church and of the Mary and Martha class of that church.
She was married to Ross Mallonee July 3, 1904. Surviving, besides the husband, are a
son, Lyle, petty officer, U. S. Navy; five brothers, Melvin Smith of Fort Wayne, D. D.
Smith of Bluffton, Charles of Decatur, Frank C. of Huntington and John of Fort Wayne and a
sister, Mrs. Florence Steele, also of Fort Wayne. One sister died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First
Methodist church, with Rev. M. O. Lester officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur
cemetery.
The body was taken to the Zwick funeral home where it may be viewed after 7 o'clock
this evening until time for the service.
