Olive N. Kreigh, 92, Decatur, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday in Adams County Memorial
Hospital.
A Salem native, she was born to Lemuel C. and Maude A. Merriman on January 9, 1905.
She married Claude D. Kreigh on August 13, 1925; he died February 18, 1957. She married
John E. Solomon in 1962; he died July 19, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Freida, (Mrs. Herman) Colchin, and three
brothers, Russell, William and Arthur Merriman.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Lou (Mrs. Gordon) Gregg of Decatur; a sister, Goldie
(Mrs. Charles) Fetters of Fort Wayne; two step grandchildren; five step
great-grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Kreigh and her husband first operated a filling station and grocery store at
Tocsin for several years, as well as a restaurant in Uniondale. She also worked as a
substitute clerk at five area post offices from 1952 until 1962.
She operated the post office at Tocsin from 1962 until 1987 when she retired.
She was a member of Tocsin United Methodist Church; a 71-year member of the Tocsin
Pythian Sisters, of which she was a Past Grand Chief and Past Supreme Representative of
the state of Indiana; a 71-year member of the Ossian Easter Star, of which she was a Past
Worthy Matron; a longtime member of the Paradise Rebecca Lodge of Bluffton and the
Women's Benefit Association. Wells County Chapter, Adams County Coin Club; Adams
County Historical Society and American Legion Auxiliary of Decatur.
She also served many years on the Wells County election board.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elzey & Haggard Funeral Home in Ossian.
Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Eastern Star
memorial services will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Internment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian.
