DEATH CLAIMS MARY BARKLEY
Mrs. Mary J. Barkley Dies This Morning At Home Near City
Mrs. Mary J. Barkley, 67, for more than 50 years a resident of Adams county, died this
morning at 10:50 o'clock at her home in the Belmont addition, east of Decatur.
Death was attributed to complications, following an illness since last December.
The deceased was born in Wells county, February 21, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George M. Ramsey. Her first husband Thomas Gallogly died in 1917 and her second husband,
Henry Barkley, preceded her in death 10 years ago.
She was a member of the First Evangelical church and of the ladies aid society of the
church.
Surviving are the following children: Melvin Francis, at home, Mrs. Margaret J. Sark
of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Mrs. Carrie David of Fort Wayne, Lawrence Dewey of Decatur and
a stepson Glen Barkley of Marion. One son is deceased.
The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Jacob Teeter of east of Berne,
Mrs. John McDonald of Sturgis, Michigan; Eli Ramsey of California; Alec (or Alex) Ramsey
of Fort Wayne, and Levi of Sturgis.
The body was removed to the S. E. Black funeral home. Funeral arrangements were not
complete late this afternoon.
