DEATH CLAIM MRS. HENSCHEN
Mrs. Jacob Henschen Dies Wednesday At Kirkland Township Home
Mrs. Jacob Henschen, 81, of Kirkland township, lifelong resident of Adams county, and
sister of Mrs. Eliza Spangler of Decatur, died at her home in Kirkland township, one half
mile west of the Kirkland high school, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Death was
due to infirmities. Mrs. Henschen had been ill for the past seven weeks.
Mrs. Henschen was born in Root township, Adams county, on October 29, 1858, the
daughter of Jacob and Margaret Baker-Spangler. On December 15, 1878 she was married to
Jacob Henschen, the ceremony taking place in Preble township. The deceased was a member
of the United Brethren church.
Surviving besides the husband are the following children: Charles, Wells county; Sam,
rural route 2, Decatur; Noah, Salem; Mrs. Fred Bracht, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Ida Yaney, route
2, Decatur; Mrs. Lewis Kreigh, Orwell, Ohio; Mrs. Cora Wolfe, rural route, Bluffton. One
son is deceased. One sister, Miss Eliza Spangler of Decatur, and two brothers, Dan
Spangler of Mishawaka, and Charles Spangler of Peru, thirty-two grandchildren and twenty
great-grandchildren also survive. Three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock (CST) at the Pleasant
Dale church in Kirkland, with Rev. More and Rev. Russel Weiler, officiating. Burial will
be in the church cemetery. The body will be moved to the Henschen home Friday afternoon
from the Jahn funeral home in Bluffton.
