Robert A. Saum, 83, of Big Turkey Lake, Indiana, died Monday at home.
He was born on October 20, 1935, in Fort Wayne.
He was an ironworker and a member of Local 147 of the Ironworkers Union from August 1,
1955, until retiring in 1995.
Surviving are his second wife, Karen; two sons, Robert Saum (and wife Jeannine) of
Hicksville, Ohio, and Michael Saum of Columbia City; three daughters: Mrs. Dennis
(Rebecca) Hager of Spencerville, Indiana; Mrs. Donald (Laura) Bigger of Story Lake,
Indiana; and Mrs. Jerome (Jennifer) Morgan of Leo-Cedarville; one stepson, Butch Hannie
(and wife Heidi) of Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Mrs. James (Lisa) Moore and Mrs. Tom
(Marcia) Jaurequi of Fort Wayne; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
His first wife, the former Vera Gleason, died in 1981 after a 27-year marriage and his
mother, Carmine Lake, died in 1991.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood
Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Monte Sheets officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Visiting hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are to Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne or to the
American Heart Association.
