JOHN YODER, 76, DIES INSTANTLY AT HIS HOME
Funeral For Well Known Retired Farmer is Saturday P.M.
John Yoder, 76, well known retired farmer residing on West Water street, died instantly
in bed of a heart attack Thursday morning at about 5 o'clock. His wife who went to
call him heard him gasp for breath and unable to arouse him, summoned a physician. Death
was unexpected and he was uptown Wednesday to the barber shop and friends.
He moved to town from his farm three and one-half miles west and two miles south of
town, now occupied by his son, Raymond, in 1918, and has resided here since.
The decedent was born in what is still known as the Jacob Yoder farm west of town on
state road 118 near the M.R.E. cemetery on December 8, 1863, the son of Jacob and Katie
Stucky Yoder.
His marriage to Mary Schindler was an event of December 17, 1891 and was solemnized by
the late Rev. Daniel Neuenschwander.
Children surviving with the widow are: Raymond of Hartford township and Mrs. Bessie
Litwiller of near Berne.
Fourteen grandchildren are living and two preceded.
One daughter, Lillian was kill (cut off)
