FORMER BERNE MAIL CARRIER DIES SUN.
WILLIAM E. TEETER DIES OF BLOOD POISONING AT DECATUR
William E. Teeter, aged 44, former Berne mail carrier, died at the Adams County
Memorial Hospital at Decatur, Sunday at 11:00 o'clock. Death was due to blood
poisoning.
Mr. Teeter received a minor scratch on his right hand on Monday morning,
February 14, while changing a tire. Septicaemia set in and he suffered intensely at the
Adams County Memorial Hospital, where he was taken soon after it was learned that he was
in a critical condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Teeter lived in Berne about ten years. He was well known here and
served as mail carrier for about eleven years, during the Wilson administration. In 1920
they moved to Decatur, where he has been mail messenger, baggage transfer man and taxi
driver.
William E. Teeter was born in Jefferson township in October, 1882, and was the
son of Mr. And Mrs. Calvin Teeter. Both his parents survive. Mr. Teeter married Miss
Frieda F. Bucher October 21, 1909. To this union were born three children,. They are
Gordon, Olive Rose and Richard E. They together with their mother grieve the untimely
death of their husband and father.
Two brothers, Albert and Jesse, and two sisters, Mrs. Manley Foreman and Mrs.
Arlie Foreman also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Christian church at Decatur Tuesday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and at the home on Jefferson street at 1:30. He was a
member of the Christian church. Harry W. Thompson, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be made in the M. R. E. cemetery west of Berne.
