Does anyone have any documentation or circumstantial evidence that would support the
following theory.?
Facts: My great grand mother was Ida Florence Miller and married George Hindenlang They
lived just east of Decatur in Adam Co Indiana. Ida's father was Harvey Miller.
Harvey was the son of Alva Miller b:1826 in Mahoning Co Pennsylvania. There are several
members of this family buried in the Clark Chapel Cemetery in Adams Co Indiana.
Being Researched: I believe Alva was the son Michael Miller b:1783. I believe
Michael's wife was Sarah b:1796 in Ohio. I have reason to believe that Michael's
father was a John Miller.
Fact: Susan Barlet b:1784 was the daughter of Sebastian Barlet. Susan was the
grandaughter of Paul Barlet b:1714 who came to America in the mid 1700's. Per
Probate records of Daniel Barlet Susan's brother, Susan married a John Miller and
lived in Ohio. A Susan Barlet and John Miller are buried about at the Stephenson Family
cemetery on old US30. This Cemetery is about 7 miles north of the Clark's Chapel
Cemetery and is just 0,7 miles inside Indiana. The family is found on both sides of the
Indiana/Ohio Line.
As a working theory with absolutely no proof I am guessing that John Miller is the father
of the John Mlller buried at the Stepheson Cemetery. Michael is also the son of John
Miller and John Milller and Susan Barlet Mller are his brother and sister in law. Based
on this theory John Miller the first's family originated in the Berks County
Pennsylvania the home of the Barlet family.
This guess is base on the observations that a family would move west and then would be
followed by other family members. These two Miller family fits that observation. The
older brother John and his Wife Susan moved to Indiana. In the correspondence with the
family, John tells his family about the good land in VanWert Ohio/Decatur In area. The
the younger brother Michael decide to improve his life and moves his family to the Decatur
Indiana area.
Any documentation or circumstantial evidence that would support the above theory would be
appreciated. I would be glad to provide my document that the above theory is based on
but would prefer to do it off line. I can be contacted through my Ancestry user name
