Participated in the Monmouth Rebellion in England against King James II. Captured was a
prisoner at Bridgewater Prison before being deported to the West Indies to be sold as
indentured servent for a period of 10 years. John was consigned to Sir William Booth on 25
Sep 1685. He was delivered to Captain William Stokes of the ship, John Friggot of Bristrol
on 24 Oct 1885. Of the 100 prisoners only 75 survived the trip. John Chilcote II was
committed to the service of Plantation owner, Ann Gallop. John's brother James helped
secure his release by selling off property in order to obtain funds for the 2 to relocate
to MD. They are recorded as having purchased 100 acers of land from Lord Baltimore in 1727
where Baltimore noe stands. Shortly after they sold this land and moved to the 8th
district, making their residence along Western Run in Baltimore Co. MD
