JESSE V. ESSEX TAKEN BY DEATH
Prominent Monroe Retired Farmer Dies This Morning
Jesse V. Essex, 79, prominent retired farmer, died at 6:20 o'clock this morning at
his home in Monroe after an extended illness of complications. He had been an invalid for
a number of years.
He was born in Henry county, Ohio, September 13, 1860, the son of David and Sarah
Essex. He married Anna M. Andrews March 10, 1882. She died January 4, 1931.
He lived in Monroe for the past 26 years and had been a resident of Adams county since
1879. He was a member of the Monroe Methodist church.
Surviving are the following children: Sherman, Mirl, Clifford, and Mrs. Dan Kauffman,
all of Monroe, Harry Essex, at home; Mrs. John E. Nelson, of Decatur, Mrs. James Spuller
of Fort Wayne, Jason Olena, Ark., and Don W. Essex, of DeWitt, Ark,; and one sister, Mrs.
W. H. Hand, of Fort Wayne. One son is deceased.
Funeral services will the held at the Monroe Methodist church Friday afternoon at 1:30
o'clock, with Rev. R. F. Hart officiating. Burial will be in Ray cemetery near
Monroe.
The body will be taken from the Lobenstein funeral home to the residence Thursday
evening and may viewed there until time of the funeral.
