Dear Marge:
Just a thought about one of your recent postings requesting information about
several ROOPS. I am leaning on a memory that has to go back over forty
years, so be careful how much validity you put on this little bit of
information. I remember Goldie Roop. She lived on the corner of Ninth &
Nuttman. Actually she lived on the second lot to the west of the
intersection, the corner lot which she also owned was vacant. She had at
least three daughters that I can remember. One was Bonnie who married Bruce
Baughn. They still lived in Decatur in 1989 when I moved to SC. Then their
were twin girls, I can't remember the one twins name but I think she may have
married a boy by the name of Hott who lived on tenth St. The other twin was
very slow and never attended school. I am pretty sure that she is the girl
you referred to as Rosemarie. Then, on the back of the vacant lot there was
a very small house that a single man (I don't know if he was single, marr or
divorced) lived in. The only name I ever heard him called was a nickname
(Motzy sic). But somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to recall that his
name was Harley. I don't know if this information is of any help, I just
offer it up out of the fog of my very bad memory.
Dan Shackley
