Have you written to your State Legislator yet about the law that allows
cemeteries to be destroyed?
Just in case any of you are thinking, "why write to my state legislator?
They won't pay any attention anyway.", I just want to tell everyone that at
least some of our legislators DO pay attention. I had a reply from Indiana
Senator Ford today, and last week from the office of Tom Saunders, whose
aide informed me that Mr. Saunders had called the Department of Natural
Resources and the Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee expressing
concern regarding the law that allows grave sites to be treated in the
manner described in the article. The aide said that Mr. Saunders intends to
copy the article and send it to all members of the Natural Resources Study
Committee. Some of the members who live far from Indianapolis do not read
the Star; however, Tom believes they should be made aware of the law. He
is expressing support for the law to be changed.
So if you haven't yet writen to your legistlators, PLEASE DO SO TODAY! The
more pressure we can put on those who make the laws, the better our chances
of getting the laws changed.
