Yes, this thread was started by Sarah concerning the USGENWEB
guidelines. The USGENWEB guidelines message board was posted on the
RootsWeb server and many of the Gen Web county sites are on the Roots Web
server so that is why I made the connection or mistake of calling it the
"RootsWeb guidelines." Sorry about the confusion of the names. I was
talking about the USGENWEB guidelines just as this thread is about. :)
Ummm.... I did not bring up the reference of the dates 1935 to 1955 in the
marriage index... that was a direct quote from a previous post of
Sarah's. It was as confusing to me then as it sounds here and I still do
not understand what Sarah was referring to. I was simply asking for
clarification to further understanding so that I could understand what was
on the Adams GenWeb site that was against the proposed guidelines.
In the meantime, I think it sounds like the USGENWEB folks are doing some
good things for their genealogy project which includes the Adams Co. GenWeb
site. I commend those who are in charge of the USGENWEB project for taking
the time to think this through and propose the guidelines. I am glad there
are folks out there who can look at the historical and still protect the
present. It's a fine balance. Since I nearly always go to the USGENWEB
county sites before anything else when I am researching a specific
location, it's nice to know that they are continually working to make their
sites good ones. I appreciate that.
Thanks for letting us know about the guidelines. I found them very
informative and helpful and will make use of them for myself.
Kind Regards,
Linda Thomas
