Helen Lister Call, 79 642 Mercer Ave., died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in Manatee
memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Florida, after having been a patient there since suddenly
fall ill on December 27.
She was born on June 24, 1912 in Wren, Ohio to Clark and Mabel Shook Ross. She
married Walter E. Lister on Mar 21 1931; he died May 12, 1969. She married Ralph Call on
January 1, 1979; he survives.
She retired in 1978 after a nine-year career at Montgomery Ward and Co.'s Fort
Wayne store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur and the Order
of the Eastern Star.
Other survivors are two sons, Merlin Lister, 126 Riverside Ct., and Gearld
"Jerry" Lister, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. James (Beverly) Bassett, Monroe;
one sister, Patricia Hueston, 1109 Bollman St.; five brothers, Rolen Ross, route 1,
Decatur; Max Ross, route t, Decatur; Ervin Ross, route 3, Decatur; Bill J. Ross, route 6,
Decatur; and Leo Ross, 229 Grant St.; three stepsons: Bradley Call, Bradenton; Ronald
Call, Defiance, Ohio; and Dana Call, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; five
stepgranchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a
stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Deceased are a daughter, Pam Van Camp, who died in 1982; a sister, Margaret; a great
grandchild; and four brothers: Richard, Eugene, Gerald, and Lester Ross.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Rev.
John E. Weeks officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-5
and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. Preferred memorials are to the church or
the American Heart Association.
