I found three Roops listed in (lots of other Adams Co & Van Wert Co names!)
RECORD OF INDIANA VOLUNTEERS IN THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR 1898-1899
160TH REGIMENT INDIANA VOLUNTEERS COMPANY B
(223) This company was organized at Decatur, Adams County, on June 7, 1889,
and was assigned as Company B, 4th Regiment, Indiana National Guard.
Jesse B. Roop of Decatur was listed as quartermaster sergeant (my
grandfather)
Chauncy Roop of Van Wert was listed as a private (may be the son of John and
Ellen D. Johnson Roop?)
Lorin Roop of Steel was listed as a recruit (may be the son of William F.
and Lovina Shiltz Roop?)
I'd love to know more about Chauncy and Lorin Roop! And can someone tell me
where Steel is located?
