Its good to hear from you, but I don't know that I can be of much help in
searching for your Thatcher. According to a cousin, John Thatcher was in
Van Wert Co, OH for the 1850 census, but I don't have a copy of that census.
His first wife, Margaret Peggy Troutner, died in 1853 and is buried in the
Roop Cemetary, Adams Co, IN. His second wife, Nancy Lewis, widow of Jacob
Roop, died in 1872 and is also buried in the Roop Cemetary. John married
Margaret c1833, then married Nancy aft. 1850 (she is in the 1850 census with
her Roop children), but I know very little else about him. Perhaps a search
of the marriage records in Van Wert Co, OH or Adams Co, IN might give some
information on John's family.
Good luck in your hunt!

Message Board Post:
I'm attempting to trace back Jacob Thatcher, whom I believe is a
brother/nephew
to the John Thatcher mentioned here. I follow them from
Wayne, Allen, Indiana(1830) to Willshire, Van Wert, Ohio(1838) to Reynolds,
Montcalm, Michigan(1870).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
