Hello Folks,
First, we were in Decatur this weekend, with -30 wind chills and snow. I was
glad to get back to the south last night where it was in the +30's. Of
course now we have snow and the temp outside is +8! So much for the warm
south!
I have a puzzle and I hope someone can offer a clue. I have a marriage
between Frank Hirschy (Hirschey) and Ida M. Newfer on March 3, 1909 (I'm
connected through the Mann family, Ida's maternal grandmother). The marriage
return shows Frank as son of August Hirschy and Elmyra Walter. (Marriage
Returns Book I, p. 233 and Marriage Record Book I, p. 396).
I also have in my database an August Hirschy, son of Fred Hirschy and
Adeline Debolt, who married Rosa Bly, the mother of Ida, on September 22,
1909. It was this August's third marriage according to Marriage Returns Book
I, p. 242, but I can't find any record of his first two marriages.
I can't prove, but I suspect that the two August's are one and the
same...thus Frank Hirschy's father August married Frank's mother-in-law Rosa
and Ida's mother Rosa married Ida's father-in-law August (if my assumption
is correct)!
Can anyone provide proof for or against my assumption? Thanks for your help,
and happy holidays.
