Sarah, Originally the Steele park was the County fair grounds and the
grounds were given to the county by Willard Steele. I think there is some
information on the park in the Decatur library which has pictures of how it
originally looked. Lynn Hilty Sewell

Subject: [INADAMS] Steele, Fisher and Elzey lines
New Photograph added to the postcard section of the
Adams County Indiana website (AHGN)describes as
Steele's Park in Decatur.
URL is:

Lynn, who was this park named for and is this the same
one located close to the golf course and the river in
Decatur?
Talking of photographs, I have one of (I think) Joseph
C Fisher, brother to my G/G/Grandmother Delphia
(Fisher) Elzey who married Richard Elzey. Delphia and
Joseph were the children of Lewis and Rachel
(Williams) Fisher and Rachel after the death of Lewis
married Elisha Vance Elzey, father of Richard. I also
have a photograph of three (3) Elzey sisters.
Photographs taken before 1923. The women are dark and
I believe there was Cherokee in the line.
David S., you have helped me once before. What do you
know of the Elzey line?
S.E.
