Carolyn Beer Dies at 12:50 This Afternoon, Bobbie at 10 o'clock Friday Night: Double
Funeral Services To Be Held Tuesday Night
Both Are Victims of Pneumonia
Hearts already heavy with grief were saddened further today when death again entered the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ermin Beer of High street, and claimed the life of Carolyn Beer, aged
18 months. Just as people were arriving for the funeral of Robert (Bobby) Glenn Beer, 2,
who died Friday night, little Carolyn passed away, the victim of pneumonia. Thus within a
short period of time, Mr. and Mrs. Beer lost two lovable and intelligent children.
Double Funeral
Double funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock at the home and
at 2 o'clock at the Cross Reformed church, Rev. Calvin Schmid officiating. Burial will
be made in the M. R. E. cemetery west of town. The funeral of Robert, which was to have
been held this afternoon, was postponed until tomorrow, the postponement being made
immediately after the death of Carolyn this afternoon.
Carolyn died at 12:50 o'clock this afternoon. Her condition was very low all day, and
already last night and again this morning stimulants were given her, but despite the best
medical attention, her life could not be saved. Carolyn became sick last Wednesday,
contracting a cold which developed into pneumonia. Her condition became serious Saturday,
soon after the death of her little brother, Bobbie.
Bobbie also became sick with a cold about 10 days ago, and this developed into pneumonia.
His condition was thought improved early last week, but Wednesday he became worse and his
condition became grave early Friday, death occurring at 10 o'clock Friday night. He
was a very intelligent and bright lad and his death, following now by that of his little
sister leaves not only parents grief-stricken, but also his many other relatives, friends
and acquaintances.
Robert was born in Berne, June 26, 1933, and Carolyn was born June 27, 1934, the son and
daughter of Ermin and Glenna Augsburger Beer. Carolyn just one year and one day younger
than Bobbie.
Surviving are the grief-stricken parents, two half-sisters, Kathleen, 11, and Flossie, 6,
and one half brother, Roman Dale, aged 9. The grandparents also survive, Mr. and Mrs. C.
C. Beer, and Mr. and Mrs. Joel Augsburger and many other close relatives.
